This photo is of our milling machine. It is much like a milling machine used to cut metal (called a knee mill) however, this is a "wood mill" which means the spindle turns faster. This makes for a smoother cut. Note the DRO in the upper right. This allows cuts to be made as fine as .0001" (ten thousandths). This machine is used mostly to cut v-grooves for points.
Note the two indexing heads and the dial indicator on the left side of the table.
The dial indicator allows me to rotate the work piece fixture a precise amount in order to make long or short points. We also have a 30" fixture for making points in full length butt blanks.
